The Keppels K2000D is a dual-head pillow plate machine. It is a CNC fiber laser welding machine with a 2000 mm (79 in) working width. Two IPG fiber laser heads on one gantry weld the same plate at the same time. After welding, the plate is inflated into a pillow plate or dimple jacket.

The K2000D is an industrial pillow plate / dimple jacket laser welder. It is not a handheld laser, not a cutting laser and not two machines. Dual head means two heads on one gantry.

How the K2000D works

  • The customer drawing becomes a CAD / DXF weld layout (spots, lines, borders).
  • Keppels software turns that layout into a machine program.
  • Two sheets are cleaned, stacked and hydraulically clamped.
  • Both laser heads weld from one side at the same time.
  • Inflation is a separate step after welding.

Why dual head

The K2000D is the high-output machine in the Keppels range. It has the same 2000 mm width as the single-head K2000S, but two heads share one gantry. Typical output is about 40% higher on the same pattern. Keppels simulates weld time on your drawing for a quotation.
