K1500S single-head pillow plate laser welding machine

The Keppels K1500S is a CNC fiber laser welding machine for pillow plates and dimple jackets. Working width is 1500 mm (59 in). One IPG fiber laser head welds programmed spots, lines and borders through two hydraulically clamped sheets. After welding the plate is inflated into a heat-exchanger jacket.

It is built for tank and vessel shops that produce 1500 mm panels in-house: milk tanks, wine and beer tanks, ice-bank plates, falling-film plates and process jackets. The operator loads a product file made from the CAD / DXF drawing. Beckhoff CNC and HMI run the job. Typical output is 0.5 to 6 m² per hour and depends on the pattern. Keppels quotes from a weld-time simulation on that drawing.

Plate length is a handling limit, not a laser limit. A jacket wider than 1500 mm is split into panels and joined on the vessel.
