Pillow plate Applications
Single embossed: tank jackets and apparatus. Double embossed: refrigeration plates and registers. Keppels calculates how many square meters the duty needs.

Where they are used
Single-embossed: beer, wine, milk/BMC, chocolate, process, fermenting, heat-recovery and truck tanks; troughs, basins, cooled containers, oven walls, climate chambers, pipes, vibration feeders, freeze-dry plates, clamp-on jackets, belts. Double-embossed: ice water 0.5 °C, glycol, Freon, ammonia R717, CO2, falling-film chillers, ice banks, ice machines, bulk solids, heat recovery from air or wastewater, immersion registers, battery cold plates.
Falling-film standard plates (Keppels data)
Material 304L / 1.4307; 1.0+1.0 mm (0.039+0.039 in); max working pressure 19 bar (280 psi); test 25 bar (360 psi); PED; about 2–2.5 litres medium per m². Standard widths 1000, 1500 and 2900 mm (39, 59 and 114 in) with listed heights. Oval pattern for pumped/flooded NH3; circle pattern for Freon DX. Keppels sizes connections and headers and can supply plates or complete falling-film and ice-bank systems.
Heads, cones, cylinders
Weld in the flat, leave an unwelded band if the head must be pressed, form, install, then inflate. A full cylinder is normally several panels at 1500 or 2000 mm (59 or 79 in).
Comparison of jacket types
Half-pipe coil: heavy, slow to weld, line-wise coverage. Conventional double jacket: large hold-up volume. Pre-formed dimple: hand weld on a finished tank, typically about 4–5 bar. Laser pillow plate: free pattern, low hold-up, one-side weld, higher pressure when the pattern is designed for it. Shell-and-tube is a separate exchanger, not a jacket.
